Marysville Select Basketball was formed to prepare young, aspiring,  basketball players for high school level play. Tryouts for each Boys Marysville team are held annually in the fall with team practices beginning by October. The 5th through 8th grade teams play 18-20 games each per year in the Wesco Youth Basketball League against other select feeder programs. In addition, teams supplement games with outside tournaments on open weekends during the Wesco AAU season. The regular season ends in late February and concludes with the annual Wesco Tournament the first weekend in March.
Practices for all teams are held twice a week at local gyms in the Marysville School District. Player costs for the 5th through 8th grade teams normally run about $325 per year excluding outside tournaments. This includes gym rental fees, referee fees, AAU fees, league insurance fees, Wesco Tournament fees and uniform fees.
Marysville Select Basketball continually strives to keep player costs to a minimum. Considering the fact that many select sports programs charge as much as $1,500 to $2,000 a year for player fees, Marysville Select is a great value for the level of competition provided.

Most of our teams play in 2 to 5 outside tournaments during the basketball season. The majority of these tournaments are held in the Puget Sound area. However, in some cases teams might travel to other parts of the state depending on time and cost considerations. Each tournament runs about $20 to $25 per player.

Team rosters are typically comprised of 10 players and playing time is earned, not guaranteed. Performance, commitment, effort, attitude and ability are rewarded with extra playing time. The goal of Marysville Select Basketball is to play and develop everyone. But as a select program, there will be some variation in playing time among players.

Players on the 7th and 8th grade teams may also play for CedarCrest, Totem, or Marysville Middle School basketball teams. Please note that Marysville Select activities will NEVER conflict with Middle School basketball games or practices.

Although space for players is limited, Marysville Select Basketball encourages ALL players to keep playing and improving their game. Players who don’t fill a spot on a Marysville Select roster still have the opportunity to play basketball through local leagues or other select teams. Young basketball players grow and develop at different rates and at different age levels. For this reason our tryouts are held each year giving new kids the opportunity to win spots on our select teams.

Any eligible player interested in Marysville Select can Contact Us to add their name to our contact list. Correspondence should include the player's name, school and grade level. All eligible players MUST reside or attend school within the enrollment boundaries of Marysville Pilchuck or Marysville Getchell High Schools.
